Long time no post Mr Birrane? What’s up with you?
Well sorry but ill have to apologize for the lack of of updates recently. Basically there has been a lot of personal problems that have made writing a regular blog just that little bit harder than it should be. In terms of health ive been back and forth between different doctors like a Yoyo being played by a hyperactive three year old in a Sweet shop. There is of cause nothing sweet about the doctors, nor hyperactive children at all. Again been quite a public blog i dont really want to go into all the details, except their is none, at all, and thats really annoying. Its marked the year anniversary (if you can call it that) of having the initial problems in October of this year and its downright getting annoying. Along with this their has been problems at School, as you may or may not know i decided for the next two years of my now free life to go to the Benton Sixth form. With this mystery illness and a ton of days off i got quite far behind with work. A Level is just a whole other boat load of extra stress when compared with GCSE so if you regularly miss quite a lot of time off you will quickly become lost in the mess of unfinished work.
Luckily im beginning to catch up now and with that will hopefully be able to devote just that little bit more time into writing some posts for the blog. There’s plenty to talk about since my last post. In the October holidays i was at the Eurogamer Expo in Leeds for two fantastic days, for people who don’t know what it is, its basically a giant convention full of video games from the large companies such as Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft (just to name but a few) and some great independent games such as Darwinia+, vvvvvvv, Joe Danger and Team17’s Alien Breed. Again i could spend a lot of time talking about these games in lots of detail and infact i plan on doing so in a seperate blog post coming up later this month.
In the world of film making our short film, Run Granny Run, has been doing exceedingly well in the film festivals. On the 9th October me and bert presented the short as part of the Co-operative Young Film Makers festival in Bradford where the film went down better than even we expected. When making a short you always have moments where you laugh or would like people to laugh but it doesn’t always translate into laughs by the audience, on the other hand with this film the audience laughed at all the right moments. Some people also sounded like they were nearly dying by the time of the double punch-line, okay well maybe dying is a ’slight’ exaggeration but they did a lot indeed. Earlier this Month we also won the Gledhill trophy at Mercury Movies. This competition is basically open to any film that had not been shown at the club before hand so the competition was varied, films in every genre from Documentary to Comedy (and nothing in-between) so when it was announced Run Granny Run won the trophy i was completely shocked. Shocked in the ‘oh my god how wonderful’ way not the ‘oh dear she shat on the turtle’ way. As of today i dont have the actual trophy as its gone off to be engraved with me name but will post up some images on the blog for all to see once it arrives.
Im going to begin wrapping up todays post now, im getting near to 700 words mark, to people like Mr Chadwick this may seem like the length of a normal sized paragraph but its coming up to 1am in the morning and i need to be getting going at 7am, dam it i should have been getting sleep instead of posting this! Oh well, before i go if you have never listened to the music of Jonathan Coulton and are a fan of Geek/Alternative rock i would really recommend that you take a listen to his music. I went to one of his concerts last week on his UK tour and it was a fantastic show and because he’s a great guy he’s made his entire back catalogue listenable for FREE on his website at http://www.jonathancoulton.com/ so there’s no excuse not to visit!
Right its getting way past my bed time now so im just going to rap this up by saying that im aiming to post something up every week but as you know if they’res nothing worth saying dont saying anything at all, but with christmas coming up as well as a small backlog of what i would call vaguely interesting things to talk to i dont think the well of content will be drying up soon.
Until Next time, Good Bye folks!
From K. Birrane
P.S: I also created a Monkey-Duck and now i feel Guilty.
